Antique gilded wooden box for holding wood and logs on a hearth or by the fireplace. Fantastic hand hammered gilding with exquisite details. The ship on the lid is an ancient Viking or Greek Galley, they were warships that could be propelled completely by oars in the absence of wind, or if they just desired more maneuverability. The front facade is a Spanish treasure ship from around the 1500s. The two at sea together make this box an exciting chase that perhaps could be for treasure.
